In the spotlight – Source
Barclays has joined up with the UK’s leading ETF providers to bring you a range of insights to help you navigate towards your investment goals. Here, Source provides you with their most up-to-date information and literature.
Who is Source?
Source was launched in 2009 and is already one of Europe’s largest providers of exchange traded products (ETPs). It is owned by a combination of a private equity firm and five of the world’s biggest equity trading houses. This backing enables Source to maintain independence while benefiting from extensive global reach and trading capabilities.
In addition to offering some of the lowest cost exposures to traditional equity, fixed income and commodity benchmarks, Source has also built a reputation for innovation. This included being the first provider in Europe to launch actively managed ETFs as well as being a pioneer in ‘smart beta’ investment strategies. Source delivers these solutions by teaming up with investment firms that are specialists in their particular field, including PIMCO, CSOP, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Nomura, Man GLG, Legal & General, Ashmore and Morgan Stanley.
The range of Source ETPs includes:
Traditional market tracking funds
Aim to provide low cost exposure to well-known market indices, such as the FTSE 100, S&P 500 or Euro Stoxx 50
'Smart beta' strategy funds
Aim to capture specific areas of the market, using a set of rules (not simply market capitalisation) to determine security selection and weighting
Actively managed funds
Aim to generate returns by selecting securities based on discretionary management decisions, rather than a rules-based method
